Last 16th December, the 3rd Cycle of Primary Education went to the wonderful town of Mojácar (Almería). There, students enjoyed the good climate and the hospitality of its inhabitants. The foreign language teachers, in collaboration with the Tourist Office of the locality, organized an activity in which the main purpose was the development of oral skills. In this way, students put into practice what they worked in English class for interviewing people who collaborated in the activity. The excitement of all, as well as the participants involved, provided the good climate and put school children in contact with the English language in a close environment and in a real context and they knew and appreciated the customs, cultures and ways of living in countries different of them. CEIP Las Lomas would like to thank the Office of tourism of Mojácar (especially to Silvia and Carmen), Lilian (an artist working in the art gallery) and Lenox and Barbara (a lovely marriage) who were always available to us.
The students were practicing in class questions to collect personal information (name, age, nationality, free time activities…) Thanks to the enthusiasm that was put into the activity, students extended questions which were mainly fixed with recycled vocabulary of previous levels. Using the information collected in the interviews, pupils will carry out a work on personal information of the interviewed.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL - RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER

Here you are a Christmas Carol. I hope you like it. Rudolph the Red-nosed reindeer is the ninth reindeer carrying the sleigh and is also Santa’s favourite.  Rudolph is known for his shiny nose which was at first an element of mockery. The nose is so bright that it can illuminate the entire sky thus allowing the sleigh to stay the course no matter what the weather is.  Visit the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYw3ue5vIuM&feature=fvsr

You know Dasher and Dancer
And Prancer and Vixen,
Comet and Cupid
And Donner and Blitzen.
But do you recall
The most famous reindeer of all

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows

All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudy / Rudolph
                                 Join in any reindeer games

                                  Then one foggy Christmas Eve
                                    Santa came to say
Rudolph, with your nose so bright
Would you guide my sleigh tonight

Then how the reindeers loved him
As they shouted out with glee
Rudy the red-nosed reindeer
You’ll go down in history

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

How do we celebrate Christmas?

HOW DO SPANISH PEOPLE CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS?

The day of New Year’s Eve, 31st December, is celebrated in a particular way: when the clock strikes twelve, Spanish people eat one grape for each sounding of the bell that, according to the tradition, guarantees 12 months of prosperity.

It is not Santa who comes to Spain bearing gifts, but the Three Wise Men. The Spanish Christmas continues for a few weeks after Dec. 25th. On the Eve of Epiphany, January 5th, children place their shoes on the doorstep, and in the secret of the night, the Three Wise Men pass leaving gifts. January 6th, Epiphany is heralded with parades in various cities where candy and cakes are distributed to throngs of children.
The more common traditions include incredibly elaborate "Nacimiento" (nativity scenes), Christmas trees, flowers, marzipan and other sweets, candles, decorations and hand-made Christmas gifts.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
¡FELIZ NAVIDAD!

Sebastián Daganzo's (3ºA) Pet - Scrabi

My pet is a rabbit. His name is Escrabi, also called "Cotton Ball", because he is very smooth and colour white. He has long ears, which are hanging downwards. His eyes are blue like the sea. He has long hair and a very short tail.

He is very affectionate, because he gives me a lot of kisses with his tiny mouth. He likes to be stroke. He eats prepared animal food, but he likes very much carrots and its leaves. He also loves to eat hay. As all rodents do, he likes to run and jump during the night and sleep during the day.
