Unit 4.- Keeping Healthy

Remember...

If you have a headache, take an aspirin.
If you have a broken arm, have an X-ray.
If you have a fever, take your temperature.
If you have a stomachache, go to the doctor.
You should eat a lot of fruit and vegetables.
You should eat a lot of food from the cereals group.
You shouldn’t eat too many sweet things.
You shouldn’t eat too much butter, meat or cheese.
You should have a bath or a shower every day.
You should brush your teeth after every meal.
You should wash your hands before you eat or touch food.
Being clean helps to prevent diseases.
Carbohydrates give us energy.
Proteins help you to grow.
Fats give us energy.
Vitamins help us to be healthy.
Some healthy habits: Do exercise, drink lots of water, brush your teeth… To keep healthy you should wash, exercise and sleep a lot.

2ND LEVEL - UNIT 2: YOUR BODY

 

READ AND STUDY FOR THE EXAM:
  • Your body has three parts: your head, your torso and your limbs.
  • You bend your body at the joints. Shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee and ankle are joints.
  • Biceps, pectoral, abdominal, gluteus and calf muscle are muscles.
  • Muscles are elastic and cover the skeleton.
  • Skull, radius, ulna, humerus, ribs, spine column, pelvis, femur and tibia are bones.
  • Bones are hard and rigid. Bones are inside your body. Bones form the skeleton.
  • You need air to live. You breathe air in through your nose. The air goes down a tube called the trachea.
  • When you breathe in, you fill your lungs with air.
  • When you breathe out, you empty your lungs. Lungs are like bags.

THE OLYMPIANS

Students, 5th Level A, have drawn their perceptions about Ancient Greece and their Gods and Goddess.

As we know, there were twelve (12) Gods in the Olympus(The Olympians). They were named from their dwelling, Mount Olympus. They were men and women. Their names were Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Hera, Ares, Athena, Apollo, Aphrodite, Hermes, Artemis and Hephaestus.

Students used their imagination and creativity drawing the gods and the goddess in Art Lessons. To learn more, visit

GUY FAWKES - GUNPOWDER PLOT - 5TH NOVEMBER

   Guy Fawkes (1570 to 1606), also known as Guido Fawkes, was one of a group of Catholic plotters who planned, but failed, to blow up Parliament - now known as the Gunpowder Plot of 1605.

   On 5th November 1605 Londoners were encouraged to celebrate the King's escape from assassination by lighting bonfires.

Halloween is celebrated on 31 October. It is an exciting event in the United Status and in Great Britain. Every American calendar has Halloween marked on it.

Halloween has ancient Celtic origins. On the Celtic calendar Samhain was the last day of summer and the last day of the year. Typical Halloween costumes are the witch, ghost, skeleton, monster or vampire.Popular traditions are to make jack o’lanters out of pumkins, bobbing for apples and “Trick or treat?”

EUROVISION 2012

The Eurovision Song Contest 2012 was the 57th annual Eurovision Song Contest. It was celebrated in Baku, Azerbaijan, following Azerbaijan's win in the 2011 Contest with Eldar & Nigar's song "Running Scared". 

The final was on 26 May 2012, with Loreen (from Sweeden) as winner. Her song “Euphoria” reached a punctuation of 372 points. The “Top Five” were: Sweeden (“Euphoria”), Russia (“Party for Everybody”), Serbia (“"Nije ljubav stvar"), Azerbaijan (“"When the Music Dies") and Albania (“"Suus"). Our country (Spain) was within the top 10 with 97 points and the wonderful voice of Pastora Soler and her song “Quédate conmigo”.

UNIT 12 - JOBS FOR EVERYBODY

Students have started unit 12 "Jobs for everybody". In this unit, the main contents are:

  • To recognise what some professionals do (repair, paint, build...).
  • To associate professions with specific tools (pliers, rolling pin, potter's wheel...).
  • To identify professions in the service sector (waiter, doctor, teacher...).
  • To associate professionals with their work place (in a hospital, bar, clinic...).
