2ND LEVEL - UNIT 2: YOUR BODY

READ AND STUDY FOR THE EXAM:
  • Your body has three parts: your head, your torso and your limbs.
  • You bend your body at the joints. Shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee and ankle are joints.
  • Biceps, pectoral, abdominal, gluteus and calf muscle are muscles.
  • Muscles are elastic and cover the skeleton.
  • Skull, radius, ulna, humerus, ribs, spine column, pelvis, femur and tibia are bones.
  • Bones are hard and rigid. Bones are inside your body. Bones form the skeleton.
  • You need air to live. You breathe air in through your nose. The air goes down a tube called the trachea.
  • When you breathe in, you fill your lungs with air.
  • When you breathe out, you empty your lungs. Lungs are like bags.

Regards, Christopher.

IRREGULAR VERBS EXERCISES

There are many irregular verbs in English, which means they don’t follow the main rule of adding –ed to the verb.

Here you are some links to different exercises for practicing the past simple of irregular verbs.

Remember, the structures of this kind of verbs are:
Affirmative: Subject + irregular verb + complements.
Negative: Subject + did not + main verb (infinitive) + complements.
Interrogative: Did + subject + main verb (infinitive) + complements + ?

SCHOOL TRIP TO LOS MILLARES, ALMERÍA

Today, Wednesday 14, students 3rd Cycle (5th and 6th Level of Primary Education) and teachers have visited Los Millares. It deals with our School Project (Centro de Interés): “Una mirada a la Prehistoria” “Looking at the Prehistory” Students liked this School trip and got fun remembering what they learnt in their lessons with their teachers. But, what are “Los Millares”? Have a look at the pictures and read the brief article. Regards, Christopher.
Los Millares is the name of a Chalcolithic occupation site 17 km north of Almería, in the municipality of Santa Fe de Mondújar, Andalusia, Spain. The complex was in use from the end of the fourth millennium to the end of the second millennium before Christ and probably supported somewhere around 1000 people. It was discovered in 1891 during the course of the construction of a railway and was first excavated by Luis Siret in the succeeding years. Further excavation work continues today. The 5 acre (2ha) site consists of three concentric lines of stone walls, the outer ring the largest, running more than 650 feet with nineteen 'bastions' and a gate guarded by foreworks. The road to the site is guarded by four smaller outlying stone forts. There is an extensive cemetery of eighty passage grave tombs.

It deals with the grammar (past simple) they are learning about.

THERE IS AND THERE ARE - AFFIRMATIVE, NEGATIVE AND INTERROGATIVE FORMS - ESSAY UNIT 4

Hello again dear friends!

As you know, students (6th level) are learning the use and structures of “There is a/an…” “There are some…” “There isn’t a/an…” “There aren’t any…” “Is there a/an…?” “Are there any…?” This is the reason why I’ve decided they will have to write a brief essay using a picture (the picture they want) and the deadline will be next 1st February (Wednesday). They have to write 3 examples of each kind: 6 affirmatives (3 singulars and 3 plurals), 6 negatives (3 sing. and 3 plu.), and 6 interrogatives (3 sing. and 3 plu.) Here they are an example of each one I’ve done as an example.

Affirmative sentences:
  • There is a bed in the corner of the room.
  • There are two pens (yellow and green) on the floor of the room.

Negative sentences:
  • There isn’t a monster sat in the room.
  • There aren’t any rabbits on the floor of the room.

Interrogative sentences:
  • Is there one schoolbag in the room?
  • Are there any pictures on the wall?

Good luck. Regards, Christopher.
